Euro Screw FAQ

Euro Screw is engineered for engineered-wood panels (MDF, particle board, plywood), giving strong pull-out resistance and fast, repeatable assembly. It is specified by thread, head, drive, length, and diameter.

Confirmat screws are thick, flat-bottomed screws that join cabinet panels (especially MDF and particle board) with high pull-out strength. They need a stepped pilot hole and give a rigid, repeatable joint.

Euro (system) screws have a 5mm thread and are used to fix hinges, mounting plates, drawer slides, and fittings into the 5mm system holes bored in cabinet panels.

Threaded inserts are internally threaded sleeves driven or pressed into wood so a machine bolt can be screwed in and removed repeatedly — ideal for knock-down legs and parts that are assembled often.

Choose the screw type and thread for the board material, the head and drive (Pozi, Torx, hex), and the length and diameter for the joint. Confirm the pilot-hole requirement for MDF and particle board.

Confirmat screws have a thicker shank, a flat tip, and a deeper thread tuned for the weak holding power of MDF and particle board, giving far better pull-out strength than standard tapered wood screws.

Confirmat screws and coarse-thread chipboard screws are best for MDF; both need a pilot hole to prevent the board from splitting or mushrooming.

Common confirmat sizes are 7×50mm and 7×70mm. Match the length so the thread fully engages the second panel without breaking through, and use the recommended stepped pilot drill.

Common materials include Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Zinc Alloy, Aluminum, Brass, Copper. The right material for euro screw depends on load, corrosion exposure, and target price.

Pre-drill the recommended pilot in MDF and particle board to prevent splitting, then drive to flush without over-torquing. Use the correct bit to avoid cam-out on high-volume lines.
