Cabinet Pull and Handle FAQ

Cabinet Handles, Knobs, Pulls, and Decorative Hardware is decorative hardware fixed to cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Pulls are specified by center-to-center hole spacing; knobs use a single screw. Finish is chosen to match the kitchen or furniture range.

A knob has a single fixing screw and is gripped with the fingertips; a pull (or handle) spans two screw holes and is gripped with the whole hand. Many kitchens use knobs on doors and pulls on drawers.

Quality matte black pulls use a powder-coated or PVD finish over solid zinc or steel, which resists wear and fingerprints well. Finish durability depends on the coating, not just the color.

A common rule is a pull about one-third the height or width of the drawer or door. Small drawers use 3"–3.75" pulls, larger drawers 5"–6.3", and wide/appliance drawers 7.5"+ or appliance pulls.

Measure center-to-center: from the middle of one screw hole to the middle of the other. This is the critical fit dimension. Common spacings are 3" (76mm), 3.75" (96mm), 5" (128mm), 6.3" (160mm), and 7.5" (192mm).

Center-to-center is the distance between the centers of the two mounting holes. It must match your drilled holes; the overall length of the pull is always longer than the center-to-center.
